A Playbook for Success

At the EDC, we start with an aggressive goal, include some checkpoints along the away and use robust data tools to show our return on investment. And so far, we’ve found a recipe for success.

The EDC staff has been successfully working toward those aggressive three-year goals relative to business development.

Our organization has already exceeded three-year goal numbers in capital investment and square footage for 2019-2021.

Of course, we’ve got plenty of additional goals. We won’t bore you with all of them, but here are a couple more that help highlight our work to support companies.

Companies Assisted

We know that when we assist a company with a challenge, even if it’s relatively benign, it gains trust, and when they have growth opportunities, they will call on us to assist them. Our three-year goal targets assisting companies at least 300 times, and we are proud to report that in nearly two years we’ve satisfactorily helped address 192 issues.

Business Retention & Expansion Interviews (BRE)

To serve our existing clients, we meet with them, learn about their business and any issues or opportunities facing them. Each year, we set a stretch goal of 200 BRE visits, and thus far in 2020, we’ve completed 120 of those interviews which we view as progress given the impacts of COVID-19 on business meetings.
